Your voice is important! Throughout the year it is important for your elected State Representatives and Senators to hear from you. However, it is especially important to make your opinions known during the Legislative Session. During the Legislative Session a call or email from a constituent can make the difference in the passage of a bill.
Historically one vote can make all the difference:
1776 - ONE vote gives America the English language rather than German
1800 - ONE vote gives Thomas Jefferson the presidency over Aaron Burr
1820 - ONE vote gives John Quincy Adams the presidency
1845 - ONE vote brought Texas into the Union
1868 - ONE vote saved President Andrew Johnson from impeachment
1933 - ONE vote elects Adolph Hitler head of the Nazi party
1939 - ONE vote passed the selective service (the draft) act 1960 - ONE vote per precinct elected John F. Kennedy President
1993 - ONE vote by Al Gore approves the largest tax increase in history
The Legislative Session for 2007 starts January 9 and lasts 105 days
